Maureen O'Hara Biography

Maureen O'Hara, an American actor and singer with Irish origin was a well-known celebrity. Her fiery, passionate performances she appeared in variety of American films were appreciated by the green-eyed beauty with flame-colored hair and eyes. Her beautiful and glamour was highly praised and she was widely regarded as the 'Queen of Technicolor' in Hollywood. The roles she played on screen reflect her strong, brave spirit. She fought for recognition and survival in a male-dominated society. She was referred to as the "tough Irish girl" and refused to compromise her standing or respect in order to obtain the roles she deserved on merit. She stood up against injustices and unfair treatment of women actors during her film career. She also gained numerous followers. Her autobiography, 'Tis Sheself', published in 2004 provided an honest and unfiltered about her life's events, as well as her struggles as she climbed the ladder to achieve success. She was an adventurous person who wasn't afraid to try herself at her own tricks. She appeared as an actress in over 60 films and gained a great deal of international recognition. She remarried in 1968 with Charles F. Blair Jr. an ex-pilot brigadier and chief who pioneered transatlantic aviation. O'Hara took a break just a few years after their wedding. Blair was tragically killed in an air crash in 1978. This ended O'Hara's joy. In the same year, she was also diagnosed as having uterine cancer and had to undergo immediate surgery. She recovered eventually. Her health began to decline as time went by and she was later diagnosed with six heart attacks short-term memory loss, and diabetes mellitus type 2. On the 24th of October, 2015, O'Hara died peacefully at Boise, Idaho, from natural causes at the age of 95.
