Morgan was also part of the 2008 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup, scoring four goals and receiving an Olympic gold medal, along with other accolades.Morgan was then taken on by the senior national team where she was substituted, and scored a number of crucial goals. One of these goals was a win over Italy which secured the U.S. team the final spot at the 2011 World Cup. Morgan was the youngest player in the team and was the one to lead it to victory against France. Even though the U.S. ultimately lost to Japan, Morgan became the first person in history to record both a goal and an assist in a final World Cup game.
