Summer Bishil Bio

Summer Bishil was born in Pasadena, California. When she turned three years old, her family relocated to America. Summer was a student at American as well as British schools while her family was living abroad. Her return to Pasadena California, just a few days shy of her 14th birthday. Summer was obsessed with the idea that she would become an actor since the age five years old began her first acting course at age 14. Nine months later she got an agent and manager, and started to pursue her career full time. In her spare time she is enrolled in college and striving to complete her degree. She was one of the stars who were young in Vanity Fair's August 2008 cover story, "Hollywood’s New Wave: Hollywood's Hottest Kids in Hollywood". Bishil began to take acting lessons when she was 14 years old. Within a year Bishil was offered an employment contract by a management or agency. The first time she appeared in the brief-lived Nickelodeon television show Just for Kicks, followed by appearances in several other children's shows.Bishil's first big break came when she played the lead actress in Alan Ball's film, Towelhead in 2007, an adaptation of the novel of the same name. Dana Stevens, a Slate critic, said that "Her performance in a film which, for all its good intentions seems completely fake, mildly embarrassing, and like an extended PSA concerning inappropriate touching is the most authentic thing." Bob Strauss writes for many Los Angeles newspapers and states that Bishil "...is one of the most natural film actress of all time. In an article published on September 12, Los Angeles Times review, Gary Goldstein stated that Summer Bishil, a "...newcomer who is a newcomer, delivers an impressive and sassy performance as Jasira. In 2009, she was a part of Wayne Kramer's Crossing Over movie starring Harrison Ford, Ray Liotta, and Ashley Judd. Jay Reiner, Associated Press, appreciated her portrayal. The film was a success and she was cast as Azula in M. Night Shyamalan's 2010 film The Last Airbender. This was the main subject of the planned but never made sequel.
