Rosamund Pike

Born in London, England in 1979, Rosamund Mary Elizabeth Pike was the only child of Caroline (Friend) Pike, an accomplished classical violinist mother, and Julian Pike, an opera father of a singer. Both parents were extremely hard-working and she traveled extensively across Europe in her early years. Pike went to Bristol's Badminton School and started acting at the National Youth Theatre. When she was in a National Youth Theatre production of "Romeo and Juliet", she was first spotted and was signed by an agent. However, she continued her studies at Wadham College, Oxford, where she read English Literature, eventually graduating with an upper second-class with an honors degree.Pike played in a range of UK TV series that included Wives and Daughters (1999), before scoring an auspicious debut in feature films as the glacial beauty "Miranda Frost" in the James Bond film, Die Another Day (2002); when the film debuted at the age of 23, she was just 23. The film that she made her debut was a high-budget action film. However, her later film work was primarily in independent films, such as Promised Land (2004) and The Libertine (2004). The Libertine won her the award for Best Supporting Actress prize at The British Independent Film Awards. Pride & Prejudice (2005) was a film that featured Pike as one of the Bennet girls. Following the action film, Doom (2006) and the suspense film Fracture (2007), Pike made a brief foray into Hollywood film. However, she returned to smaller-scale films with remarkable performance in three movies: An Education (2008) Then, she starred in Made in Dagenham (2010) as well as the leading role opposite Paul Giamatti in Barney's Version (2010). In 2012, Pike portrayed the role of Andromeda in the sci-fi epic Wrath of the Titans (2012). In the film, she starred with Tom Cruise as her female leading character in Jack Reacher (2012), she returned to action films.
