Thora Birch

Thora Birch was born March 11th 1983. She is an American actor, producer and director. Her debut film was Purple People Eater (1988) and she won the Young Artist Award for "Best Young Artistress under nine years old". Birch became a cult an infant as she appeared in films such as All I Want for Christmas (1991), Patriot Games (92), Hocus Pocus (93), Monkey Trouble (1994), Now and Then (1995) and Alaska (1996). In 1999 she was nominated for a BAFTA nomination. Then, she starred as Enid in the cult classic Ghost World (2001), receiving a nomination for the Golden Globe for Best Actress. In 2003, Birch received an Emmy Award nomination for her performance as the title character in Homeless to Harvard The Liz Murray Story. Her other films include Dungeons & Dragons (2000), The Hole (2001), Silver City (2004), Dark Corners (2006), Winter of Frozen Dreams (2009), and Petunia (2012).After taking an absence from acting, Birch began her career again in the year 2016 and has since starred in a number of independent films. Birch played the role of Whisperer Mary/Gamma in the season 10 episode of The Walking Dead (2019-202). Birch was the eldest child born to Jack Birch (and Carol Connors) in Los Angeles. Birch is of German-Jewish, Scandinavian and French-Canadian descent. [6] Her name, Thora is the name that comes from Thora, the Norse god thunder and lightning ("Thor") (which would have been her name if she were a boy. She has a younger brothernamed Kian Bolt Birch.Birch's parents are former adult film actors, who both participated in the film Deep Throat. They were not keen to support Thora because of their experiences working in the entertainment industry. However, a babysitter noticed Thora performing commercials in a similar way and got them to show Thora's image to agents. Birch received her first major break at four, when the babysitter took her to a successful audition for an Quaker Oats commercial.
