Renee Kathleen Zellweger, was born in Katy, Texas on April 25 of 1969. Her mother Kjellfrid (Andreassen), is an ex-nurse and midwife born in Norway. Cameron Crowe was busy casting his next film The Whole Wide World, Jerry Maguire (1996),starring Tom Cruise. Crowe was looking at actresses such as Bridget Fonda (Camden Diaz), Winona Ryder (Winona Ryder) and Marisa Tomei. Then he was able to see Zellweger's performance from The Whole Wide World (1996). He auditioned Zellweger and was convinced the actress was the perfect Dorothy Boyd. After her success in a couple of independent films, Renee felt confident enough to make a return to the huge-budget Hollywood film industry. Meryl Streep played her in One True Thing (1998). She also appeared alongside Jim Carrey in Me, Myself & Irene (2000) and began dating Carrey soon afterward. Bridget Jones's Diary (2001) was her first film in the title role.
