father and a French-Russian mom. He was employed as consul with the French government.
Eugene Klementieff, a painter was her grandfather. Pom was her name since it
sounds like the Korean words "spring" and "tiger" in
Korean. Klementieff lived in Canada for a year prior to her family went on a
long trip because of her father's job. Prior to moving to France, they resided
in Japan and also on the Ivory Coast. Klementieff lost her father to cancer at
the age of five. Her mother was also diagnosed with schizophrenia. Klementieff
was raised in France by her paternal uncle and aunt. Her uncle, who she
described as "like her father" died when she was age 18. Her brother,
who was older who committed suicide years later, was her aunt. Klementieff had
the opportunity to pursue law school after the death of her uncle. However, she
didn't find the profession attractive. She was also an waitress in France as
well as a salesperson. In the Cours Florent drama academy in Paris she started
her acting career at the age of 19. In the early stages of her education, she
won the competition for theater, which gave the opportunity to take classes for
free for two years with some of the best teachers. Klementieff was first to act
professionally in the independent French film Apres lui (2007). She played the
role of the stepdaughter for the lead character, Catherine Deneuve. Filming for
her scenes took three days. In one scene, Klementieff was to be pushed down a
set of stairs but she fell down the stairs herself as did director Gael Morel
used that scene for the final film. Loup (2009) was her first film leading
role. It's a French film about a tribe of Siberian mountain reindeer herders.
Klementieff was filming in a camp hours away from the nearest village. There,
temperatures dropped to zero.
